Folklore Collectors in Dundee and Angus

February 6, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Folklore Collectors in Dundee and Angus Dundee and Angus have a rich tradition of storytelling, lore, song and sayings, but recent published sources for this are comparatively rare. This talk will explore some of the now lesser-known collectors of 19th century Angus, such as Andrew Jervise and D.H. Edwards, and significant sources relating to the folk traditions of Dundee and Angus both in the area and further afield. Taking in dragons and ghosts, as well as historical legends, this talk will highlight lesser-known stories and shed new light on familiar ones.

The talk will be given by Erin Farley of the Local History Centre in the Central Library.

Refreshments will be available before the talk for a small donation.
